Why Men Don’t Talk — And Why I Finally Did: How My Experiences Shape the Books I Write

Men are raised to push through.

 To be strong.

 To keep going.

To stay silent and “get on with it.”

But as I’ve learned personally and professionally, silence can be more damaging than the challenges we’re afraid to talk about.

Over the years, I’ve written about emotional resilience, leadership of the mind, heartbreak, self-sabotage, and the journey back to personal strength.

What many readers may not realise is that these themes are rooted in real experiences that shaped not only my life, but also the books I’ve written.

This is why men don’t talk.

And why I believe we need to.

The Silent Pressure Men Carry

In every environment I’ve been part of business, fitness, relationships, and life in general I’ve seen how deeply men struggle in silence.

Many appear strong and unshakeable.

But that external strength often hides stress, anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and emotional overwhelm that never gets spoken about.

Over the years, I’ve trained alongside young men who looked solid and confident men who later took their own lives without ever expressing the battles they were facing.

 Those losses stay with you.

They change the way you see everything.

They also reinforce a truth:

People rarely know the depth of someone’s struggle.

A Wake-Up Call That Forced Honesty

Like many men, I carried a lot quietly.

 Heartbreak.

 Stress.

 Pressure.

 Symptoms I ignored.

 Mental fatigue.

 Physical strain.

One of those challenges was a prostate cancer diagnosis — something no man expects, yet many avoid discussing.

It forced me to reconsider how we deal with fear and uncertainty.

It made me understand, at a deeper level, how often we push pain away until it becomes impossible to ignore.

More importantly, it clarified something central to the books I write:

Honesty is the foundation of strength.

 Not silence.

Why This Matters as an Author

My books—

The Journey Back to You,

Let Yourself,

From Self-Sabotage to Self-Discovery,

Lead Your Mind,

Love Loss and Aruba,

From the Ring to the Boardroom,

Leaving the Boardroom,

 and The Narcissist Handbook

all explore resilience, emotional honesty, growth, and rebuilding after difficult chapters.

These aren’t academic concepts.

They’re lived experiences shaped by moments where I had to confront my own silence and choose self-leadership over withdrawal.

Readers often tell me they connect to my writing because it feels real and grounded.

That’s because it is real. Every book has been crafted from the lessons learned during chapters that required reflection, courage, and personal truth.

My Commitment to Mental Health Awareness

In addition to writing, I’m committed to raising awareness around mental health for both men and women.

The tragedies I’ve witnessed, the challenges I’ve faced, and the conversations I’ve had have all led me to one purpose:

to create spaces, stories, and resources that encourage people to speak up before silence becomes dangerous.

This includes my future aim of building a gym and clothing brand dedicated to supporting mental health charities and promoting open conversation.

For me, the mission is clear:

Use every platform to encourage honesty, support, and hope.

Why I Talk Now

I share this not for sympathy, but for clarity.

Talking helped me regain perspective.

It helped me understand the emotional weight I was carrying.

And it helped me see why my books matter not as stories, but as tools for anyone navigating their own silent battles.

If there’s one message I want readers to take from my work, it’s this:

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

Strength isn’t staying silent — it’s choosing to speak.

If you're looking for support, clarity, or a fresh perspective…

My books are written for anyone navigating emotional challenges, stress, heartbreak, or personal growth.
